At DiagnosticON, we believe that a great healthcare solution starts with truly understanding the needs of the people it serves. That’s why, in 2023, our team took part in a highly focused market research program under the prestigious GIST (Global Innovation through Science and Technology) Balkans initiative, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

As part of the program, we conducted an extensive series of structured interviews across the U.S. healthcare ecosystem, aimed at validating DiagnosticON’s value proposition, use cases, and market fit.

Scope of the Research

Over several months, we engaged with 50 healthcare professionals and decision-makers across the United States. Our interviewees included:

  • 25 practicing physicians (primarily cardiologists, internists, and hospitalists)
  • 15 medical directors overseeing clinical operations at hospitals and healthcare systems
  • 5 quality officers focused on hospital readmissions and regulatory compliance
  • 5 former CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) or Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) advisors with deep insights into hospital reimbursement policies and value-based care

This broad cross-section allowed us to capture the perspectives of frontline clinicians, hospital administrators, and policy experts.

Key Findings

The market research reinforced several critical insights:

  • High Readmission Penalties: Hospitals face substantial financial risks from avoidable readmissions, particularly in heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, and CABG surgery populations — directly aligning with DiagnosticON’s initial clinical focus.
  • Demand for Personalized Risk Evaluation: There is strong demand for real-time, patient-specific risk prediction tools that can integrate easily with existing EHR systems and enhance discharge planning processes.
  • Need for Cost-Effectiveness Insights: Hospital executives expressed a growing need for decision support systems that not only predict clinical risks but also quantify the economic trade-offs of early versus delayed discharges.
  • Scenario Analysis is Valuable: Clinicians and administrators alike confirmed the value of tools that allow dynamic “what-if” scenario modeling, helping them visualize the impact of modifiable risk factors on patient outcomes and financial performance.
  • Integration Expectations: Seamless EHR interoperability through standardized platforms like Redox Nexus is not optional — it is essential for adoption.

How This Research Shaped DiagnosticON

The findings from the GIST program helped us refine DiagnosticON’s platform architecture and feature set, ensuring it directly addresses the operational, clinical, and economic priorities of U.S. hospitals.
It validated our decision to focus on:

  • Dynamic, real-time risk evaluation
  • Top 10 Influential Factors tied directly to clinical guidelines
  • Integrated cost-effectiveness modeling and shared decision-making tools
  • Scenario analysis modules for real-world discharge optimization
  • Full EHR interoperability and automated workflows

Thanks to this research, DiagnosticON is better positioned to deliver tangible value to healthcare providers committed to improving patient outcomes while navigating the realities of value-based care.

Conclusion

Participating in the GIST Balkans program and conducting structured market research in the U.S. was a pivotal milestone for DiagnosticON.
It not only validated our vision but also sharpened our execution plan — helping us bring a smarter, more sustainable solution to hospitals worldwide.

We extend our gratitude to the GIST program, our mentors, and all the healthcare professionals who shared their time, insights, and expertise with us.

The future of hospital care is data-driven, patient-centered, and value-based — and with DiagnosticON, we are proud to be part of building it.
